TITLE: Director of Automation

SUMMARY: The general purpose of the Director of Automation is to provide leadership for the Operations Team in partnership with Maintenance Quality and IT to drive improvements with solution discovery automation strategy and manufacturing processes.
EDUATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least ten years experience in instrumentation and controls programmable logic controllers motor control centers and/or PLC programming
- Bachelors degree in engineering: electrical manufacturing industrial mechanical controls or computer preferred or other related technical field
- Excellent organizational written verbal communication skills and high attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in design installation and troubleshooting of electrical and controls systems
- Understanding of ladder logic electrical schematics NEC codes operator interfaces and AUTOCAD
- Ability to handle adverse situations and/or tight time deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Technical proficiency controls programming software applications such as RSLogix Siemens Schneider
- Technical proficiency in data communications applications such as ModBus Remote I/O Ethernet and Devicenet.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define automation and controls strategies for the business by specifying automation standards.
- Analyze current state in manufacturing maintenance and quality operations and propose automation projects that will improve safety quality productivity or reliability of operations.
- Provide expert guidance on new technologies and emerging automation and manufacturing system trends for process engineering.
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance activities for electrical and control systems.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and corrective maintenance support by collaborating with other departments factories and third party vendors.
- Facilitate internal resources and outside vendors in developing technical solutions for automated equipment. Interface with equipment vendors to ensure successful machine delivery integration and manufacturing validation.
- Establish and manage a high performing staff by recruiting training coaching and developing employees communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.
