Job Summary
Were seeking a Project Engineer to join our this role youll perform detailed engineering design with minimal supervision and contribute as part of the design team on a variety of projects. Youll handle permitting route planning and detailed fiber network design while collaborating with Senior Engineers on unique or complex assignments. Youll receive technical guidance on new design topics and ensure quality control through field inspections of fiber optic infrastructure helping us deliver reliable high-quality networks to our customers.

As a Project Engineer youll be diving into quality control (QC) for multiple utilities handling QC design for both pre- and post-construction phases. Youll apply your technical expertise to ensure our projects meet all specifications fully understanding the design requirements in your area. Leading small to medium or multi-discipline projects youll guide Design Engineers and prepare detailed technical analyses. Youll share insights with the team and engage with stakeholders to grasp the nuances of each task.
Reporting to the Project Manager (PM) youll communicate any challenges related to scope cost schedule and quality. You will be expected to visit the project sites. Youll also interact independently with clients estimate proposals and understand the role of business development in our operations. Assisting the Design Coordinator youll evaluate design personnel and assign tasks to Designers and Drafters. Youll review vendor drawings perform independent engineering reviews of simpler projects and provide feedback. Additionally youll offer input on potential process and design improvements. Ensuring adherence to the quality control process including documentation using the Quality Review Tracking tool is crucial. Youll self-check your work before submission complete tasks with minimal errors and participate in peer and QC reviews.
In this role you are enabled to be at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and utilizing tools such as Microsoft Copilot bespoke AI workflow tools and an IT team dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation to enhance our operations and drive efficiency. All employees can engage with the Digital Transformation Team to support the integration of new tools and following employee ideas to drive success for the business.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering from ABET accredited university. (Electrical engineering preferred)
- 46 years of experience in utility design or demonstrated equivalent job knowledge
- Experience with fiber network design and construction preferred
- Knowledge of joint use applications
- Strong understanding of permitting route planning and fiber infrastructure field inspections
- Ability to be a leader and build relationships with clients and staff members
