The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing advanced diagnostics repairs and maintenance on cranes and heavy equipment. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities including mentoring technicians coordinating workflow ensuring safety compliance and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee complex diagnostics repairs and maintenance on cranes and related equipment.
- Lead and support a team of technicians by assigning tasks providing guidance and ensuring timely completion of work.
- Review schematics technical manuals and blueprints to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
- Conduct final inspections and testing of repaired equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Train and mentor junior technicians promoting skill development and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure proper documentation of work performed and maintain accurate service records.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols and environmental compliance including proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Communicate effectively with management and other departments to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime.
- Assist in planning and scheduling shop activities to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
Competencies
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment or crane repair with at least 1 year in a leadership or mentoring role.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Skilled in welding hydraulics electrical systems and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Valid drivers license and ability to obtain a passport.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% and work overtime or on-call as needed.
