Location: NEW YORK NY 10029
Job Summary: The Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through accurate medication preparation clinical drug therapy management and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. This role supports critical areas including oncology pediatrics transplant cardiac critical care and general medicine. The pharmacist ensures safe and effective medication use offers therapeutic recommendations and provides patient education. This is a full-time 40-hour/week position scheduled Monday Friday 7:30 AM 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities
Prepare compound and dispense medications accurately and in a timely manner.
Perform chemotherapy preparation in accordance with USP standards and facility protocols.
Provide drug information and clinical support to physicians nurses and care teams.
Review and monitor patient medication therapies ensuring appropriate dosing interactions and contraindications.
Offer pharmacokinetic and therapeutic recommendations based on patient age renal function and current literature.
Float between multiple service areas including:
Critical Care
Pediatrics
Oncology
Transplant
Medicine
Cardiac
Educate patients on medication use dosing schedules potential side effects and drug interactions.
Resolve issues related to formulary and non-formulary medications following department policies.
Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory safety and institutional standards.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safe medication practices.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of pharmacology medication safety and clinical dosing principles
Ability to work across multiple specialty areas (critical care oncology peds transplant cardiac medicine)
Competency in chemotherapy preparation (required)
Excellent communication problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume hospital pharmacy setting
Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy Required
License: New York State License (0-2 years) required.
