Join a high-impact engagement supporting a Japan-based APAC finance team during a critical transition. This is a unique opportunity to help design sustainable processes for a global organization in the fresh food/FMCG sector. Project Overview:
We are supporting a clients finance and accounting function by addressing operational instability and process gaps. The team is in a reset phase aiming to rebuild and document processes from scratch. As the subject matter expert you will analyze document and optimize workflows while providing interim operational support and advising on regional alignment.
Your involvement in the project will be carried out as an independent subcontractor.

Scope of Services
Process Analysis & Documentation
- Map and document current finance and accounting workflows across AP AR GL tax and treasury functions.
- Identify gaps inefficiencies and risks in existing processes; propose standardized procedures and create clear manuals.
- Develop workflow diagrams and role clarity to support onboarding and knowledge transfer.
Operational Support & Interim Approvals
- Support Accounts Payable (AP) tasks such as invoice and PR approvals supplier registration and commission confirmations.
- Oversee expense claim approvals and ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Review and approve journals reconciliations (inventory RAR Blackline) and cash flow reports.
- Validate payment processing payroll approvals and petty cash reconciliations.
- Coordinate intercompany loan arrangements and related documentation.
Tax & Compliance Coordination
- Assist with transfer pricing setup and year-end adjustments; liaise with tax managers and commercial finance leads.
- Prepare and organize materials for consumption tax and corporate tax filings; coordinate with external advisors.
- Manage customs valuation updates and ensure timely submission to authorities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Facilitate finance meetings and month-end closing reviews with local and APAC teams.
- Collaborate with temporary staff operations and global stakeholders to gather insights and drive alignment.
- Communicate process changes effectively to reduce friction and improve morale.
Process Optimization & Future Readiness
- Recommend and implement improvements to reduce manual work and operational risk.
- Lay foundations for automation and regional standardization across APAC.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications
- Fluent Japanese; Business-level English (for APAC/global communication).
- Strong background in finance and accounting process design and optimization.
- Familiarity with SAP S4/HANA Blackline and Excel.
- Proven ability to manage change and engage stakeholders across levels.
- Hands-on operational experience in lean or transitional environments.
- Industry knowledge in consumer goods FMCG or inventory-based businesses preferred.
