Join WDVA as a Full-Time Fiscal Analyst 2and use your expertise to drive financial excellence! We are now hiring a for our Accounts Payable team located in our Central Office in historic Olympia WA.

This position is responsible for all payment of open accounts used to purchased goods and services for the agency. Workload includes but is not limited to accounts payables for all vendors of a Veterans Home. This includes the following: the purchase cards medical payables contacts DES phone bill and other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for proper and correct coding of expenditures according to agency policies GAAP OFM and IRS regulations.

Please note: The work schedule is typically Mon-Fri 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but some evening and weekend work may be required. Periods of mandatory overtime may occur without advance notice. An alternative work schedule and hybrid telework is subject to supervisory approval.

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans including in some instances their spouses widows or Gold Star Families.

Duties

Some of what youll do:
  • Process all invoices and ensure correct coding is used and the appropriate authorizing signatures are obtained while ensuring all discounts are applied and taken expeditiously.
  • Reviews analyzes and interpret agency and financial records and reports (Enterprise Reporting AFRS Excel etc.) for accounts payable discrepancy resolution correction and develop fiscal queries and reports from existing fiscal databases.
  • Interpret and apply agency policies. GAAP OFM and IRS regulations. Follow internal controls to protect against the loss of public funds or property.
  • Help coordinates fiscal procedures with administrators information specialists department heads and division chiefs to determine methods of improving fiscal procedures and services.
  • Communicate both internally and externally with our customers regarding payment documentation.
  • Assist higher level staff in a variety of manual and automated fiscal record keeping tasks such as researching expenditures to particular programs.
  • Track expenditures in various local accounts using the Enterprise Reporting system and processing journal vouchers.
  • Assist in cross training of Accounts Payable staff and Provide back-up to other fiscal staff.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates Degree to include 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting or auditing.
  • Two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Must be proficient in English language and be able to read write and speak English.
Preferred/Desired:

  • 1 year of AFRS and Financial toolbox experience
  • 6 months Enterprise Reporting experience
  • One year of professional experience with GAAP and Governmental Accounting.
  • One year of experience with year end closing (accounts payable)
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups and individuals both internally and externally.
  • Ability to verify and correct accounting data.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicants suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees.
  • Must become familiar and comply with all DVA policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must successfully complete within mandated time frame employee orientation and all other mandatory annual in-service and other required training.
  • In an emergency may be asked to stay for an extended period and perform duties appropriate to the situation.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to travel to WDVA locations throughout the state.
  • Computer usage requires professional business use of internet Outlook and DVA IT equipment.
  • Periods of mandatory overtime may occur without advanced notice.
  • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted drivers license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
  • Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
