Every YPA Teacher is responsible for sustaining and improving excellent academic results for students. YPA Teachers align classroom instruction with the YPA Charter and end statements. Under the general supervision of the School Principal they are expected to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing approved curriculum. They are also expected to examine and seek to improve their impact on an ongoing basis while keeping with the spirit of the schools Core Commitments.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and administer curriculum consistent with school goals and
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students needs including students with special needs; conducts individual small group instruction as needed.
- Obtain outstanding measurable results in terms of both student growth and performance utilizing data driven instruction and project/inquiry-based
- Align instructional content and methods with outcomes expressed in the charter annual operating plan and SC requirements.
- Participate in regular formal and informal evaluation & coaching. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars workshops or professional meetings or by conducting research.
- Create a positive learning environment in which students are actively engaged in the learning
- Establish a learning community within the classroom where all students are recognized for their strengths and student behavior expectations are
- Organizes and maintains a system of accurate and complete record-keeping grading and reporting for all student activities achievement and attendance as required by procedures and applicable laws.
- Promote and maintain a safe and healthful environment in the classroom and
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all procedures and practices contained in the current employee student and parent
handbooks and applicable state and federal laws.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Skills/Efforts
South Carolina Teacher Certificate in an applicable area of emphasis.
Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques a commitment to academic rigor excellent judgment and a strong aptitude for organization planning and execution. YPA teachers are also expected to exhibit professional collaboration integrity enthusiasm receptiveness and excellence in communication both verbal and written.
Working Conditions Classroom environment with limited exposure to outside conditions. Activities require movement/lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
