What youll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to a Research Scientist you will support the implementation of a College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF) project designed to address real-world challenges through applied collaborative research.
Working with NSCC faculty students and community partners you will play a key role in the planning coordination and execution of research activities that generate meaningful outcomes for Nova Scotias communities and industries.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting project coordination data collection and progress tracking for the CCSIF project.
- Conducting literature reviews and assisting with the design and implementation of research tools and methods.
- Collecting and analyzing data (qualitative quantitative or mixed methods) under the direction of project leads.
- Assisting with the preparation of knowledge mobilization materials.
- Supporting communication with project partners and contributing to dissemination activities such as presentations reports or community workshops.
- Providing administrative logistical and technical support for day-to-day research operations.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
The minimum educational qualification for this position is a diploma advanced diploma or degree in a related field or discipline specific to the nature of the research such as Social Sciences Environmental Technology or Engineering Technology.
You have a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.
Proven experience working with industry partners to complete a project on time and on budget.
Demonstrated ability to support applied research or project-based work through coursework capstone projects or work-integrated learning.
Experience working on applied research or innovation projects in an academic or community setting would be considered an asset.
Experience with data analysis software (e.g. SPSS NVivo Excel MATLAB or R) would be considered an asset.
Understanding community engagement or industry collaboration in applied research contexts would be considered an asset.
Experience leading community engagement or fundraising initiatives to support local innovation would be considered an asset.
Experience developing and implementing outreach strategies to increase participation in community-based projects would be considered an asset.
Understanding of how technology and cybersecurity can enhance community resilience and innovation would be considered an asset.
Experience supporting/providing services to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
