Job Title: Registered Nurse Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / MSDU
Location: Rochester NY 14621
Shift: Nights (412-hour shifts 19:0007:00)
Duration: 13 weeks
Orientation: 16 hours

Requirements

License: Active NY RN license required at submission
Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute RN experience
Specialty Experience: PCU/MSDU able to manage 1:51:7 Med-Surg patient ratios
Certifications: BLS
Charting: EPIC experience required
Travelers: First-time travelers accepted
Weekends: Every other weekend

Unit Details

Unit Type: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) / Step-Down
Beds: 26
Patient Population:
- Adult acute-care patients requiring higher acuity monitoring
- Admissions from ED PACU ICU and Med-Surg floors
Monitoring: Continuous pulse oximetry and telemetry for all patients
Common Interventions:
- Airway management
- Acute BiPAP support
- Care of patients with arterial lines & central lines
- Titrated IV medication infusions
Team Approach: Multidisciplinary fast-paced adaptable and focused on high-quality evidence-based care

Clinical Skills Required

Cardiac Monitoring / Emergency Response:
- Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
- Familiarity with Rapid Response and Code Team protocols
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:
- Peripheral line care & management
Respiratory Support:
- Nasal cannula face masks portable oxygen
- Non-invasive airway management
Professional Competencies:
- Strong understanding of isolation precautions
