The Director Quality Patient Experience & Performance Improvement is a visionary leader with a passion for engaging with patients and providers to deliver high performing highly reliable services that deliver on our vision for exemplary patient experiences always. The Director champions a corporate culture that highlights quality patient safety and patient experience as key organizational priorities. This role ensures a coordinated organization-wide approach to quality improvement patient safety patient engagement and patient- and family-centered care across all three Halton Healthcare sites.
Working in partnership with the Medical Director of Quality the Director designs and oversees a comprehensive quality governance framework that links the Board Quality Committee to frontline operations. The Director brings a track record of strong clinical acumen to ensure quality patient safety and clinical utilization matters are appropriately flagged prioritized and effectively managed. The Director accomplishes this by establishing cross-functional governance for ongoing quality patient safety patient experience and improvement initiatives by coordinating timely and effective critical incident identification disclosure analysis and development of systemic steps to avoid or reduce the risk of similar incidents.
The Director acts as a senior resource and advisor to executives physicians leaders and all teams on matters related to quality patient safety patient relations patient engagement and continuous quality improvement methodologies. The role also maintains key external partnerships such as HIROC Accreditation Canada Ontario Health and provincial patient safety networks.
The Director is politically astute flexible and proactive with a transparent inclusive and coaching leadership style. The role works closely with Professional Practice Organizational Development and Risk portfolios to foster a just and psychologically supportive culture in support of patient safety.
The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for Halton Healthcares Quality Patient Safety Patient Relations Patient Experience Ethics and Spiritual Care portfolios.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with teams to implement quality patient safety and clinical utilization initiatives to advance the organizations strategic plan clinical services plan and the QIP.
- Uses co-design with patients and providers to develop sustainable system-level improvement initiatives.
- Coaches and builds capacity for health care teams and leaders (both clinical and non-clinical) using continuous quality improvement tools and approaches that will lead to sustainable outcomes.
- Responsible for convening and coordinating all Accreditation-related activities as well as the annual Canadian Patient Safety Week events.
- Uses quality and patient experience data to analyze trends and prioritize quality and clinical risk issues across the organization.
- Influences and guides the annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) process and monitors implementation.
- Implements initiatives to improve health equity.
- Provides guidance and ensures compliance with legislation and any legislative changes related to quality and/or public reporting of patient safety indicators.
Qualifications :

- Masters degree in a health-related field MBA or equivalent.
- Results-oriented leader with a proven track record of implementing sustainable broad-based quality initiatives.
- Compassionate leader with extensive experience in facilitating and managing sensitive situations.
- Demonstrated ability to use quality and process improvement methodologies.
- Minimum 7 years hospital leadership experience clinical background preferred.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Innovative thinker.
- Effective at building relationships and gaining credibility with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- Broad knowledge of health system design current issues and trends policies and relevant legislation.
- Skilled at executive and Board stakeholder management.
- Experienced in facilitating discussions workshops and meetings to achieve organizational goals.
