The Bureau of Engineering (BOE) investigates construction and construction related disputes and claims for and against the City of New York and in collaboration with the Office of the General Counsel adjudicates and negotiates fair and reasonable outcomes that are in the best interest of the City. BOE also provides technical expertise and assistance to the Office of the Comptroller in support of its oversight of City Agencies.
Reporting to a Director the Managing Engineers will be responsible for the investigation and analysis of construction contract claims and disputes and for the oversight of the work performed by staff under their supervision. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Investigate and analyze construction claims and contract disputes of high complexity.
- Undertake research inquiries inspections cost estimating contract interpretation and delay and impact studies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports that address entitlement and damage and provide settlement recommendations for supervisors consideration.
- Lead the research and evaluation of contract and engineering matters of a complex or highly technical nature.
- Supervise staff in the execution of engineering work and provide coaching and mentorship as necessary.
- Responsible for implementation of Bureaus policies within their unit.
- Responsible for tracking performance and reporting on progress to supervisor as necessary.
- Perform other related work assigned to them.

ADMINISTRATIVE ENGINEER - 10015
Qualifications :
1. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering civil engineering electrical engineering environmental engineering mechanical engineering or plan examining work at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive managerial or administrative capacity.
