Job Summary

Adult Protective Services (APS) is mandated by the State of New York to provide social legal and protective services to individuals 18 years of age and older who because of mental or physical impairments are unable to meet their essential needs for food shelter clothing or medical care secure benefits and entitlements or protect themselves from physical or mental injury neglect maltreatment or financial exploitation; are in need of protection from actual or threatened harm neglect or hazardous conditions; and have Ila one available who is willing and able to assist them responsibly.

Under the direction of the Director of the Field Office and with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment the Deputy Director Field Office (Brooklyn South) is responsible for the direction coordination and administration of all activities within the Under care Assessment Eviction and Preventive Service Units. The Deputy Director oversees all cases assessed for or accepted for APS services as well as case closings and ensures strict staff adherence to APS policies procedures and State regulations

APS is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Director of Social Services NM I to function as Deputy Director Field Office (Brooklyn South) who:

- Direct and supervise APS staff engaged in processing cases for clients receiving Financial Management Services awaiting entitlements or receiving services requiring APS monitoring. Ensure timely verification of continued eligibility for APS services and the updating of service plans within required timeframes.

- Provide administrative oversight of the Assessment Unit. Monitor case formulation ensures quality of service plans and ensures implementation of emergency services needed to stabilize clients.

- Plan and manage eviction prevention activities including cases referred by the NYC Department of Investigation. Coordinate services between APS and Visiting Psychiatric Services (VPS) the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) and the Family Independence Administration (FIA) for clients eligible for APS eviction intervention.

- Oversee Orders to Gain Access ensuring requests are completed within the mandated 30-day assessment period.

- Responsible for the overall performance of the Preventive Service Program. Monitor service delivery and field visit schedules and implement tracking mechanisms to ensure timely and appropriate service provision.

- Maintain ongoing contacts with City agencies (including hospitals and NYPD) State agencies the Office of Health and Mental Health and the Office of Legal Affairs. Provide information and coordinates interventions to ensure APS cases are addressed promptly and appropriately.

- Monitor the overall performance of the Field Office. Identify operational inefficiencies and recommends changes in staff procedures to the Director Field Office to ensure uniform policy application and improved service delivery.

- Review and analyze case records to ensure completeness accuracy and compliance with State regulations and departmental directives. Interpret and communicate departmental policies and regulations to staff and external agencies.

- Develop and maintain statistical reports detailing monthly Field Office productivity and operational activities. Submit performance analyses including case volume new cases outstanding cases and client service metrics to the Field Office Director and APS administration.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience including one year at the administrative or managerial level in a large governmental agency business firm civic or community organization operating in the area of social services; or

2. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above. However all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and the one year of experience at the administrative or management level as described in 1 above.
