Job Description
The Department of Health Science at Minnesota State University Mankato invites applications for a Tenure-Track (Probationary) position in Applied Health Science in the Department of Health Science. The successful candidate will have a Doctorate or terminal degree in Health Education Health Promotion Health Behavior or a closely related field. (Conferred on an official transcript by December 31 2026). Must also have a current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) credential or CHES/MCHES eligible at the time of appointment. A copy of current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) card or evidence of eligibility through NCHEC will be required if selected for the interview.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate Applied Health Science and graduate Master of Public Health (MPH) courses as well as large enrollment general education health courses. These courses may include but are not limited to: Personal Health First Aid and CPR Drug Education Introduction to Applied Health Science Foundations of Public Health Health Communication and Advocacy Professional Preparation in Health Careers Environmental Health Global Health Biostatistics Behavior Change Foundations and Strategies and courses pertaining to health education program planning implementation and evaluation. The position requires actively engaging in scholarship and continued professional development. All university faculty members are expected to participate in service to the discipline department university and addition faculty members are responsible for advising and mentoring students.
