This is a Union position.
Position Summary
The Journeyman Engineer is responsible for the safe efficient and compliant operation of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and mechanical infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate maintain and repair HVAC systems boilers chillers and cooling towers.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain plumbing systems including pumps valves and fixtures.
- Respond to service requests and emergency calls in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate logs records and documentation of work performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Assist in training and mentoring apprentice engineers and maintenance staff.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
Qualifications
- Minimum 35 years of experience in building operations or facilities maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC electrical plumbing and fire/life safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing bending and kneeling.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts weekends and in secure environments.
Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards.
- May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
