Job Summary

The Position

The Office of the Superintendent is now accepting applications for Director Ethics and Compliance Investigations.

Under the direction of the County Superintendent of Schools ensures the integrity of the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) operations by conducting investigations and assessments and recommending remediation to safeguard the organizations compliance with internal policies the Education Code applicable laws and regulations and contractual and bargaining agreements as they relate to both non-personnel and personnel matters; leads and oversees internal investigations into ethical and compliance-related matters and collaborates with various stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of integrity accountability and transparency within the organization; provides strategic oversight of the organizational risk management loss prevention and employee and student health and safety programs; advises administration and employees concerning risk avoidance; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.

This position is full-time in-person and has a work year of 12 months 261 days 8 hours per day.

Leadership team members are eligible to receive a $2500 annual stipend for a masters degree and a $2500 additional stipend for a doctorate provided official documentation is submitted.

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to:

  • Education:Masters degree in human resources public administration law or related field and
  • Experience:Seven (7) years responsible experience conducting or overseeing investigations involving discrimination harassment retaliation or other forms of misconduct; developing and implementing compliance policies; providing training; and collaborating with executive leadership on organizational risk management orfive (5) years as a practicing attorney with a strong emphasis in labor and employment law.


LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class must possess an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification or obtain an ARM certification within eighteen (18) months of employment.
  • Valid California drivers license.
  • Advanced degree or Juris Doctor preferred.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES

  • Assessments and interviews may take place virtually or in-person.
  • Following the final filing date the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
  • The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts tentatively scheduled for the week of January 5 2026.
  • Based on the final scores of qualified candidates Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
  • Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities tentatively scheduled for the week of January 12 2026.
  • Second interviews will be held in-person.
  • Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps using the email supplied within their applications or as updated by candidates in their master it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.

Candidates who test successfully for placement on the eligibility list may be certified to other related positions without further testing requirements OR job posting announcements.
