Job Summary

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast affordable broadband to a wide range of customers including consumers businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Antenna Calibration team is responsible for the calibration of all of the phased array antennas for Amazon Leo. This includes influence into custom ASIC design bring-up of hardware validation of system performance antenna beampattern measurement simulation high-volume manufacturing as well as the design and development of multiple software applications to carry out our areas of ownership.

As a Systems Manager for antenna calibration you will collaborate with systems architects hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to build and test systems containing FPGAs 1P/3P custom ASICs and RF Hardware. You will be responsible for key aspects of phased array antenna system design simulation measurement calibration and optimization. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver advanced high-performance phased array antenna this role your responsibilities will include:
Designing and implementing phased array calibration systems signals processing and algorithms
Performance analysis and design trade-off studies of phased arrays
End-to-end modeling simulation and analysis of baseband/RF/antenna systems
Lab measurement and validation of performance of antennas and phased array systems and subsystems
Working with antenna modem RF and Digital teams to simulate measure and fine-tune radio designs

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

- 5 years of managing system or software development teams experience
- 7 years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative work in networking storage systems operating systems experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Experience in managing system or software development teams
- Experience in agile software development methodology
- 7 years of work experience in Aerospace/Semiconductor/Consumer Electronics industry
- Experience in DSP techniques digital modulation radio architecture line-up analysis RF system design
- Experience with lab test equipment like VSAs VSGs VNAs and Oscilloscopes

- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle including coding standards software architectures code reviews source control management continuous deployments testing and operational excellence
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking storage operating systems)
- Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban continuous delivery etc.)
- Experience with AWS platforms services and design patterns
- MS in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of work experience or PhD with 5 years of experience
- Experience working with phased arrays calibration and antenna measurement
- Experience with one of the mainstream antenna simulation tools (CST/HFSS)
- Good understanding of modern wireless technologies (OFDM/MIMO) and medium access procedures
- Familiarity with basics of probability and estimation theory

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $149700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $258800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
