Research Associate II Onsite in Aliso Viejo CA

TheResearch AssociateIIis responsible forsupportingthedesigndevelopmentand execution of novelassaysbased on Next-Generation Sequencing andLong Read Sequencing. This role supports Ambrys translational research initiatives including internal and external collaborations workingunderminimal position will workas part ofa multi-disciplinary team includingR&Dscientistsbioinformaticsscientists projectmanagersandclinical laboratory personnel.

Essential Functions

• Perform DNA/RNA isolation from biospecimenssuch asbloodsalivaandbuccal swabs
• Library preparation for long/shortread of sequencing metrics
• Tracking project progress and maintenance of up-to-date electronic laboratorynotebook
• Conduct data analyses andpresentduring internal and external meetings
• Drafting work instructions standard operatingproceduresand other supporting documentation
• Contribute to the design and development of novel assays for use in translational researchprojectsandsupport their transition tothe clinical setting
• Other duties as assignedâ

Qualifications

• BSorMS degree in a life sciences field:Biology Molecular BiologyBiochemistryor related field
• Strong understanding of molecular biologyand genetics
• ExperiencewithDNA/RNA extraction from biospecimen such as whole bloodsalivaand buccal swabs
• Experiencewithlibrary preparation for short or long read sequencing andsubsequentanalysisand interpretationof sequencing metrics
• Experiencewithmolecular biology techniques such as PCRand gelelectrophoresis
• Good command ofWordExceland PowerPoint or equivalent office programs

Preferred

• BS with3years or MS with1years of laboratory research experience in an academic or industrial setting
• Strong understanding andpreviousexperience workingonhuman genetics
• Proficient inthe following molecular biology techniques: library preparation for short or long read sequencing DNA/RNA extraction from biospecimens (blood/saliva/buccal)PCRsand analysis of electrophoretic traces
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate and work effectivelyas part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to present organized summaries to internalor externalstakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
• Strong willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and procedures as well as expand your knowledge about genetic variation and its connection togeneticdiseases
• Previousexperience or interest in learning more about data interpretation
• Good command of sequencingmetricsinterpretation
• Previoushands-on experience withlong-readsequencing will be positively valued
