Amazon is seeking a Senior Manager Indirect Tax based in Bengaluru to support the businesses across Australia and South East Asia. This position will be responsible for providing in-house tax consulting to various business teams including liaising with the various stakeholders within Amazon and the global tax teams.
Key job responsibilities
This position will work closely with business partners and members of the tax department to structure and understand transactions restructurings and business initiatives to ensure we have documented tax technical advice on indirect tax impacts of such activities that can support our reporting compliance and on-going tax controversy analysis.
In order to be successful the candidate must possess the ability to think strategically while also engaging in day-to-day tactical details. The candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to identify and manage tax and execution risks. Candidate should have in-depth tax technical knowledge with experience evaluating and advising on international business initiatives contemplated transactions and business proposals. The key responsibilities of this role include:
Analyzing business transactions and initiatives as it relates to wholesale/retail trading and e-commerce business initiatives partnering with various teams and functioning as an in-house tax advisor.
Researching GST and other indirect tax issues - working with taxing authorities and external advisers.
Developing operational implementation work plans supporting tax planning opportunities.
Maintaining and communicating knowledge of past present and potential future indirect tax laws regulations rulings procedures and court decisions.
Continues monitoring of applicability of various regulatory requirements
Work with compliance and tech teams ensure adequate information is being recorded in the systems as may be required for the purpose of Tax compliance audit and litigation.
- Knowledge of international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries
- Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations laws and standards
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- Minimum of 12 years of indirect tax experience with public accounting firm major law firm and/or in industry preferably a multinational corporation.
- Degree in law or accounting - chartered/cost accountant (or equivalent).
- Prior experience of managing indirect taxes for Asia Pacific jurisdictions
- Basic understanding of AI tools
