Compensation: $38.00 to $47.00 per hour commensurate with experience (5 11 years).
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to advance into a team lead or supervisory role while working on impactful infrastructure projects.
Note:
This onsite role is located in LaPorte Indiana. Applicants must be current Indiana residents and must hold a valid Indiana driver s license.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structural inspections of bridges culverts retaining walls and related infrastructure.
Supervise and mentor bridge inspectors; ensure compliance with inspection standards and safety procedures.
Perform detailed evaluations of structural defects material deterioration and load-carrying capacity.
Read and interpret design plans rehab plans roadway plans geotechnical data hydraulic reports and maintenance records.
Prepare professional inspection reports with actionable maintenance recommendations.
Communicate findings clearly to engineering and maintenance teams.
Utilize inspection tools digital reporting systems and field equipment.
Required Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 9 months.
Bridge Inspection Team Leader certification (or ability to obtain within 12 15 months).
Strong knowledge of bridge components culvert systems structural behaviour and failure mechanisms.
Ability to interpret complex technical documents and engineering data.
Excellent communication skills and ability to direct field personnel.
Valid driver s license and willingness to travel to inspection sites.
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb crouch kneel balance lift equipment and work at heights or in confined spaces.
Strong situational awareness in active field environments.
Ability to use inspection tools such as tape measures cameras hammers spotlights range poles etc.
