The Louisiana Works is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor to join the Office of Workers Compensation. The Office of Workers Compensation Administration (OWCA) in Louisiana oversees the enforcement and administration of workers compensation laws aiming to support early return-to-work efforts and improve workplace safety. The department manages disputed claims conducts hearings reviews medical treatment disputes and investigates fraud through collaborative efforts like the GAME ON task force. The OWCA also provides OSHA consultation services to high-risk industries while Records management maintains detailed records and reporting systems including electronic submissions of injury reports. Additionally OWCA conducts financial audits and ensures compliance among self-insured employers and insurance carriers. OWCA does not process individual workers compensation claims or issue benefit payments. They also do not help injured workers with the claims management.
The Registered Nurse Supervisor B will serves as the lead nursing and supervisory authority within the Office of Workers Compensation Administration (OWCA) Medical Services Section overseeing independent medical examinations (IME) and supervising unit staff. The RN-Supervisor plans directs coordinates monitors and manages the activities of the OWCA Medical Services Section which provides statewide oversight over medical examinations and treatment relative to Louisiana workers compensation cases. The role ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements while providing leadership staff development and operational support to meet the goals of the Medical Services Section.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelors degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A masters degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Manage the IME process including scheduling examinations maintaining the IME physician list and coordinating all related records and documentation.
Delegate IME-related tasks to Medical Services staff to ensure workflow efficiency.
Provide backup support for overflow work such as inputting 1009 cases or covering other unit tasks during staff absences or shortages
Supervise assigned staff (administrative coordinators analysts RNs and other staff as designated by the Medical Director).
Speak at meetings legislative sessions or external venues as directed by the Medical Director (often involving travel).
Represent the Medical Services Section at Medical Advisory Committee meetings including participation in guideline updates.
Complete special projects or reports as requested by the OWC Assistant Secretary Deputy Assistant Secretary or Agency Executives.
