As Director of Highways and Infrastructure youll lead a division at the heart of this change shaping a safe clean and well-connected Birmingham that residents can be proud of. As part of the City Operations Directorate Leadership Team youll:
- Lead the Highways and Infrastructure Division managing services including highways contracts network management parking and flood risk.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve connectivity safety and sustainability.
- Oversee a significant budget (149m) and major assets including 2577km of carriageways 846 bridges and 100000 streetlights.
- Build strong partnerships with national and regional bodies such as DfT National Highways and WMCA.
- Drive transformation through digital innovation data-led decision-making and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Highways Act Traffic Management Act and other relevant legislation.
- Deliver strong performance management systems and ensure services meet regulatory standards.
- Lead transformation projects to improve affordability sustainability and service quality.
- Manage significant financial resources ensuring robust budgeting and commercial thinking.
- Oversee procurement and contract management for highways and parking services.
- Safeguard public assets including highways bridges streetlighting and flood risk infrastructure.
- Promote a culture of excellence health and safety and continuous improvement.
- Develop and support a high-performing workforce fostering inclusion and engagement.
- A visionary leader with experience in highways infrastructure or large-scale operational services.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with a track record of delivering value for money.
- Ability to lead diverse teams and foster an inclusive high-performing culture.
- Strategic thinker who thrives in complex environments and can influence at the highest levels.
