Job Description:
Under the direction and with support of the Manager the incumbent establishes goals and approaches to plan for and create a positive and safe learning environment in the Infant Program. The individual is required to document observations of the children in reference to the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) principles while incorporating an understanding of How Does Learning Happen (HDLH 2014). The individual is responsible to establish ongoing communication and responsive relationships with families. The incumbent works with team members through discussion collaboration and reflection in all aspects of the program to create contexts to support childrens learning development health and well-being. The incumbent also provides guidance and modelling to Early Childhood Education students to support the students theoretical training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and implements a developmentally-appropriate program using the Early Learning for Every Child Today and How Does Learning Happen (HDLH) for the children in their care that supports the philosophy of the E.C.E. program and meets the requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Direct support observe and evaluate ECE students during field placements;
Establish and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with parents
Works in a team environment in the Infant Program and the Early Learning Centre
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 (two) year diploma or equivalent in Early Childhood Education;
Registered with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators as a member in good standing;
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR C;
Clear police check for the vulnerable sector issued within the past 6 (six) months;
Immunization record as recommended by Ottawa Public Health;
A minimum of 2 (two) years working full time in a licensed early learning & child care setting preferably where ECE students complete placements;
Mature interpersonal and communication skills;
Flexibility initiative enthusiasm commitment to the growth of the children and the training of students;
Good organizational multi-tasking communication computer and problem-solving skills;
Experience in programming emergent curriculum developing documentation and assessment of children.
