Job Summary

Our client a leading organisation delivering essential water and civil infrastructure across Melbournes eastern region is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to support a series of capital works projects. This role forms part of a long-term program responsible for upgrading critical treatment facilities pipelines and associated civil assets that serve communities across metropolitan and regional Victoria.

About the Role

You will play a key role in maintaining safe project environments across multiple active sites. Working closely with project managers field teams subcontractors and external stakeholders you will ensure compliance with safety requirements support investigations guide best practice and promote a strong safety culture across all project teams.

This position suits a proactive safety professional who has experience in high-risk construction or utilities environments and thrives in a role that blends field engagement advisory responsibilities and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor work areas to ensure compliance with safety standards procedures and project-specific requirements

  • Support incident investigations risk assessments and corrective actions

  • Assist in developing and updating safety procedures communications and project safety documentation

  • Conduct regular site inspections audits and toolbox talks

  • Support workers compensation and injury management processes when required

  • Build strong working relationships with site teams and raise safety awareness across all levels

  • Maintain safety records reports and legislative documentation

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders when required

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing safety systems tools and processes



Requirements

  • Degree in WHS Environmental Science Engineering Project Management or related field

  • Diploma of Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)

  • Safety Lead Auditor qualification

  • Strong knowledge of construction safety and relevant legislation

  • ICAM Lead Investigator certification

  • Valid drivers licence and ability to travel between metro and regional sites

  • Experience in major civil utilities or infrastructure projects

  • Excellent communication problem-solving and documentation skills
