SEND Teaching Assistant Mitcham January 2026 Start

Our client a specialist SEND provision in Mitcham is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their autism-focused campus.

We are partnering with this outstanding provision to recruit compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children with autism and additional needs such as ADHD speech and language difficulties learning delays and experiences of trauma.

Skills and Experience Were Looking For

• Training in behaviour support approaches such as Team Teach PBMor other de-escalation strategies.
• Communication support skills including Makaton PECS visual schedules or AAC.
• Strong understanding of Autism and sensory needs including sensory regulation and adapting environments.
• Experience with structured teaching approaches such as TEACCH task breakdown visual learning and predictable routines.
• Patience resilience and excellent rapport-building staying calm consistent and nurturing with children who may have communication differences anxiety or challenging behaviour.
