Equipment used depends on product being manufactured or operation being performed and may vary from cell to cell. Under direction of the supervisor and/or cell lead works to ensure production requirements are met product quality is maintained machine maintenance schedules are adhered to and safety rules are followed.

This professional will lead a high skilled Engineering group and will be the key connection between Engineering and Operations.

  • Drives and coordinates activities in one or more engineering programs within operations lending support to production and/or the support and development of new products for Business units. These programs may include Manufacturing/Process Engineering Engineering Systems Transfer Processes Technology Development Tools (design fabrication assembly sourcing and calibration) and Plant/Equipment Maintenance. Manages and works on issues of different scopes where data analysis calls for the assessment of identifiable factors. Makes judgment calls in regard to plant practices and policies; selects methods and techniques for problem solving.
  • Ensure to comply with quality metrics (i.e. Non-Conformance CAPA Audit observations Timeliness Metric).
  • Manages and coordinates Engineering through subordinated engineers and technicians in order to meet Production/NPD requirements consistent with costs high quality profitability and the required delivery times.
  • Interacts with the Development of New Products process in order to create processes and introduce schedules for new products.
  • Manages testing and recommends changes to processes and designs.
  • Manages coordinates and executes the principles of Project management methods tools and techniques for effective planning.
  • Schedules organizes runs integrates and wraps up projects within the expected scope and time frame either by personally carrying them out or assigning them to subordinates.
  • Must display individual creativity forethought and skills in making judgment calls anticipating to and solving problems creating programs to meet goals/requirements organization/leadership of projects and developing standards and guidelines for technical activities.

Main Functions and Duties

  • Sets the goals and objectives for the Engineering Department in the business unit making sure they match the goals and objectives of the plant business plan.
  • Identifies plans and coordinates engineering projects focused on developing or improving processes equipment maintenance systems operation transfers and cost reduction including the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
  • Keeps in contact with individuals within the organizations units with the responsibility of working independently in the technical aspects and activities related to their area.
  • Implements systems and procedures to make sure that the equipment and machinery are in working order and within spec. Verifies machinery and equipment requirements based on production schedules. Verifies implementation capital requirements for the improvement of production processes.
  • Coordinates problem solving activities within teams in the business unit to secure the minimum cost and avoid delays in the launch of new products.
  • Identifies improvements and replacement of machinery/equipment whenever necessary.
  • Identifies plans and coordinates the implementation of improvement projects on process capability and defect prevention and detection tool design.
  • Responsible for equipment and process validation in the Business Unit.
  • Verifies and approves process specifications and manufacturing changes.
  • Complies with Quality Laws and Regulations that apply to the market and with Company regulations at the local state and federal levels as well as with procedures and policies pertaining health and safety and the environment.
  • Support audit and compliance readiness.

Supervisory Duties

  • Manages multiple subordinates engineers and technicians.
  • Responsible for the total management and evaluations of his unit.
  • Leads his subordinates according to all appertaining policies and laws.
  • His duties include interviewing hiring and training of employees; planning assigning and overseeing their activities monitoring their development recognizing and disciplining employees assign complaint management and conflict resolution.
  • Comply with the performance and development plan (5 conversations).
  • Ensure involvement on the Safety Site Programs.

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

  • For those who supervise or manage a staff responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal State local and Company regulations policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a Bachelors degree and/or equivalent University degree is required; focused degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Advanced degree preferred

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant professional work experience
  • Experience in engineering
  • Must possess clear theoretical and practical skills of fundamental engineering techniques as they apply to the supervisory position.
  • Must display deep technical knowledge on equipment and maintenance must ensure preventive maintenance schedule adherence. Plant maintenance as well as equipment calibration standards tools and documentation control systems within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess computer and software skills related to his activities. Skills to manage projects limits scope and duration. Knowledge of principles and methods tools and techniques of project management. Good leadership skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Excellent oral and written skills both in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and implement World Class manufacturing practices including Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and JJOS/JJPS concepts.

Preferred:

  • JJOS/JJPS concept knowledge.
  • GB/BB Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.

Other:

  • May require up to 10% of domestic and/or international travel to other locations and sites
