Job Summary:

The Department of Neurosurgery currently seeks a medical neuro-oncologist at the Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as a medical neuro-oncologist within our newly minted Brain Tumor Center. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include teaching clinical research and service responsibilities. Medical Neuro-Oncology works closely with a multi-disciplinary team including neurosurgeons radiation oncologists neuropathologists and neuroradiologists to create a comprehensive treatment plan unique to each individual patient taking into account the patients and familys needs while providing state-of-the-art care and access to new developments and appropriate clinical trials. Neuro-Oncology patients are additionally supported by the availability of dietician social work physical medicine and neuropsychological services.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical duties

Acute and chronic outpatient care of Neuro-Oncology patients including administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy disease-modifying therapy and health maintenance care.

Monitor patients for adverse events related to therapeutics.

Inpatient consultations for acute or chronic Neuro-Oncology patients in the University of Colorado Hospital with attendant documentation for these consults.

Participation in clinical trials with expectation of completing and maintaining research trainings.

Educational activities

Supervise medical students residents and fellows in clinics and in the hospital setting.

Provide supervision and training for advanced practice providers.

Attend neurology lectures and teaching conferences.

Train medical students residents and fellows.

Support share and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff other faculty and advanced practice providers pharmacy staff medical students and neurology residents and fellows.

Periodic presentation of lectures to patients and others regarding neurological conditions and treatments.

Administrative responsibilities

Data entry into hospital systems committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission.

Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected.

Ongoing CME is required.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at one of our community practices in the southern or northern Front Range area.

We also offer an ACGME approved residency program in Neurosurgery that offers 2 to 3 resident opportunities every other year. One-year fellowships are offered in all our specialties for advanced training. We have increased our research operations with 19 new grants in FY24 totaling over $1 Million dollars in new funding dollars in FY24 and are hoping to expand these endeavors over the next 3-5 years. Assistant Professor:

MD or DO

Completed fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology or documented longstanding care

A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date

Eligible for Neuro-oncology board certification or Neuro-oncology Board Certified

Associate Professor:

MD or DO

Completed fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology or documented longstanding care

Eligible for Neuro-oncology board certification or Neuro-oncology Board Certified

A record of ongoing research activity and funding

A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date

Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor level in the School of Medicine

Professor:

MD or DO

Completed fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology or documented longstanding care

Neuro-oncology Board Certified

A record of ongoing research activity and funding

A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date

Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Professor level in the School of Medicine

Preferred Qualifications:

Eligible to obtain other states unrestricted medical licenses if necessary

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position exclusive of incentive pay or bonus has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor $200000 $320000

Associate Professor- $225000 - $320000

Professor- $250000 - $320000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
