The Opportunity

Based in Canberra the Housing Team Leader will provide hands-on leadership to SEARMS housing team - championing high-quality tenancy services embedding best practice and ensuring the organisation meets its operational and compliance commitments.

In this role you will:

  • Lead mentor and empower a Housing team to deliver responsive culturally safe high-quality tenancy services.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex tenancy matters including NCAT preparation and representation.
  • Oversee tenancy operations including sign-ups rent reviews arrears lease management and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure policies and practices are trauma-informed compliant and aligned with NRSCH/ASES standards.
  • Monitor and report on tenancy performance KPIs arrears anti-social behaviour and compliance.
  • Build trusted relationships with tenants external partners community stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to strengthening service delivery and team capability.
About You

Youre a confident people-focused leader with strong housing or property management experience and the ability to guide others through complexity. You bring a calm solutions-focused approach and genuine commitment to culturally safe practice and community impact.

You will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Property Management or Community Housing.
  • Strong knowledge of the NSW Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing for and presenting at NCAT hearings.
  • At least 3 years leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong skills in tenancy management dispute resolution and stakeholder engagement.
  • High-level organisational analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tenancy systems (e.g. Console).

Mandatory requirements:
WWCC National Criminal History Check Full Drivers Licence and COVID-19 vaccinations (as per guidelines).
