Job Description:

Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for serving men or women with concurrent disorders in our virtual Community Treatment Program:

  • Group Facilitation in relapse prevention Life Skills process group and Seeking Safety
  • One-on-one Counselling
  • Development of treatment plans based on client-centered recovery goals
  • Assessment & Referral
  • Networking with community agencies including program promotion and development
  • Crisis/Conflict Intervention
  • Discharge Planning
  • Continuing Care Follow-up for virtual clients
  • Team Consultation and Decision-Making
  • Case Management skills
  • Maintain client records / files according to agency standards
  • Maintain consistent caseload of 20 clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree from a recognized institution (in one of the human services professions)
  • Registration in a professional college an asset
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in the substance use/concurrent disorder sector
  • Knowledge of evidence-based concurrent disorder counselling interventions / treatment models including CBT Relapse Prevention and Trauma Informed Practice
  • Cultural awareness practices
  • Professional documentation according to agency and regulatory college standards
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • The ability to work collaboratively with community partners
  • Competence with data management systems particularly EMHware
  • Knowledge and experience in substance abuse counselling group counselling and case management
  • Awareness and experience with marginalized and vulnerable populations
  • Basic First Aid/CPR Certification an asset
  • Proficient in English language second language an asset

Upon hiring successful candidate must provide:

  • A current Vulnerable Sector Screen

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

Senior Management Director of Client Services Program Coordinator counsellors & staff within agency outside agencies

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Reports directly to: Program Coordinator
  • Direct reports for this position: None may oversee student placements

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office setting long periods of being seated using computer phone systems
  • Little to no travel

Vulnerable Sector Check: an original copy of a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) that is less than six (6) months old is required by your start date and the results of the check must be acceptable to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion. The cost of the VSC is borne by the employee.


Compensation: Please note that this job falls under a collective agreement. The hourly rate for the Concurrent Disorders Counsellor position is set at $22.97 and wage increments are provided based on collective agreement language.

The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Armys Mission Vision and Values in a professional manner upholding our code of conduct.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $22.97 to $22.97 with a maximum of $22.97.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
