Job Description
We are recruiting for a multi skilled Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Engineerto join a close-knit engineering team at a national recycling facility.
Youll play a key role in keeping the plant running safely and efficiently ensuring minimal downtime across a range of mechanical and electrical systems.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys working as part of a supportive collaborative team.
You can be biased towards either Mechanical or Electrical maintenance but have a good understanding of both.
Working within the engineering team you will need to be comfortable with your mechanical and electrical skills to undertake working alone from time to time.
The plant is currently undergoing investment and expansion.
Hours: Continental Shifts 6am to 6pm & 6pm to 6am (2on 3off 2on 2off 3on)
Salary 48000 to 52000 per annum (including shift allowance) Pension 33 days holiday.
Role and Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer
- Carry outplanned preventative maintenance (PPM)on plant machinery and equipment.
- Attend breakdownsand carry out effective repairs on conveyors vibrating screens and automated sorting machines used in the glass recycling process.
- Diagnose and resolve bothelectrical and mechanical faults ensuring safe and reliable operation of plant equipment.
- Assist with equipment improvements modifications and upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
- Support externalcontractors during scheduled 12-hour shutdowns (every two weeks) when major repairs and overhauls take place.
- Work closely with fellow engineers and production teams to maintain a smooth and efficient operation.
Qualifications Required:
- Proven experience in amulti-skilled maintenance rolewithin a recycling manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong understanding ofconveyor systems motors sensors and automated machinery.
- Confident withfault-findingon both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interprettechnical drawings and schematics.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 HNC or equivalent) preferred.
