Job Description
Responsible for all the duties involving the maintenance of the golf course and resort grounds; oversees the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does relatedwork as required.
Responsibilities
- Direct in the planning and supervising of the maintenance of the golf course and resort grounds.
- Schedule work and supervises associates and the use of the equipment.
- Render professional advice opinions assistance and services to the Director of Golf and Corporate Director of Agronomy.
- Develop annual budgets for golf course maintenance operations and resort grounds.
- Handle all human resource functions of the department including interviewing applicants payroll training and disciplinary action.
- Oversees and participate in all activitiesundertaken by Assistant Superintendentand Resort Grounds Manager.
- Ensure that all aspects of golf course maintenance are operating within all federal state and local guidelines and regulations.
- Develop and institute data-driven pesticide fertilization cultivation and irrigation programs.
- Develop and maintain good rapport with guests members and neighbors to facilitate effective communication about sensitive subjects (constructions pesticide usage noise complaints etc.).
- Maintain open line of communication with Golf Pro Shop about relevant information.
- Assist with snow removal as needed.
- Perfom other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Agronomy is required or a related field from an accredited College or University.
- Five years of related experience and/or training.
- Must have working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees fairways greens and bunkers; seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; planting cultivating pruning and caring for plants shrubs and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soilconditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems including wells pumps and automatic controls.
- Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achievethe most efficient utilization of equipment.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Maintain effective employee and public relations.
- Must possess a validdrivers license.
- Requires North Carolina pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.
- Must be able to stand walk bend for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Spanish a plus.
