Position Overview
A healthcare facility in Columbia is seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse to support its specialized Orthopedic Spine Unit. This 26-bed telemetry-capable unit provides care for post-operative spinal surgery patients and occasionally receives ER overflow patients for observation and MS/Tele support. Unit Description
Orthopedic Spine (26 beds):
Provides specialty care for patients recovering from:
Laminectomies
Spinal fusions
Discectomies
Nurses in this unit provide comprehensive post-operative care including:
Telemetry monitoring
Pain management
Physical therapy support
Mobility assistance
Patient Ratios:
Typically 1:5
May be up to 1:6
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality MS/Tele nursing care to post-operative orthopedic spine patients.
Perform ongoing cardiac and telemetry monitoring (strong cardiac experience required).
Manage pain protocols and coordinate rehabilitation activities.
Support patient mobility and collaborate with PT/OT teams.
Care for ER overflow patients assigned for observation or MS/Tele needs.
Document patient assessments interventions and outcomes accurately.
Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Requirements
Active RN license (state or compact) Required
Strong cardiac/telemetry experience Required
Med-Surg/Telemetry experience in an acute care setting
Ability to manage a patient ratio up to 1:6
Excellent clinical assessment communication and time-management skills
