Job Summary

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University Singapore in partnership with Imperial College London LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The Schools primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical August 2024 we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine with an emphasis on technology data science and the humanities.

Dr. Chuchu Wangs lab is an interdisciplinary research lab integrating cryo-EM/ET lipidomics and NMR to study proteinlipid interactions in the brain. The key objective is to support efforts to identify how these interactions contribute to neurological disorders and to discover potential therapeutic targets.

For more details please view are looking for a Research Associate to a Research Fellow. The role will focus on deepening our comprehension of the physiological and pathological mechanisms of human aging and neurodegenerative diseases especially on protein-lipid interactions in age-related disorders. You will utilize your expertise in structural biology (e.g. cryo-EM/ET in-cell NMR) omics technologies (lipidomics proteomics) cell biology molecular biology and bioinformatics to clarify the mechanisms of key molecular interactions and support the development of early diagnostic and intervention strategies. Additionally you will perform integrated multi-disciplinary research (combining structural analysis cell experiments and omics data) to gain novel insights into the molecular basis of aging-related diseases contributing to the laboratorys goal of promoting healthy aging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain mice

  • Prepare mass spectrometry samples collect and process data

  • Conduct cell culture

  • Perform protein purification

  • Carry out comprehensive research on multi-omics data

  • Train lab members on experimental skills and equipment

  • Writing scientific articles

Required educational qualification experience skills and competencies:

  • Masters (for Research Associate) or PhDs (for Research Fellow) degree in in Cell Biology Structural Biology or related field.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experiences in metabolism structural biology or cell biology / technical hands-on experience in metabolism structural biology or cell biology.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in maintaining animals conducting animal-related experiments mass spectrometry sample preparation data collection and processing.

  • Competent in software operation (e.g. Prism Adobe Illustrator Photoshop).

  • Great sense of responsibility excellent time management skills meticulous and eye for details a team-oriented mindset and ability to work independently (Publishing as the first author in related field SCI journals is preferred).
