Unlicensed Behavioral Counselor - Sound Group
Position Description:Provides meaningful person-centered and individualized supports and therapies to adults and children with intellectual or development disabilities (I/DD). Working under the direction of the Lead Therapist the Behavioral Counselor supports the provision of mental health services and treatment specifically supporting music drumming and sound immersion groups. Teaches skills and strategies to reduce unwanted behaviors and increase daily living skills and independence. Monitors and ensures the self-worth health safety and welfare of individuals receiving services. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
Essential Duties:
- With a PPCH Therapist working with groups to support individual self-expression self-worth self-reliance and decision making while following Therapeutic/Behavior Plans Annual Service Plans etc.
- UnderthedirectionoftheBehavioralHealthTherapistsupportswiththerapeutic interventions crisis interventions and case management services.
- Plansandimplementstherapeuticprogramsandactivities.
- Worksincollaborationwithandasanessentialmemberofbehaviorandsupportteams.
- UndertheguidanceoftheBehavioralHealthTherapistassistswiththedevelopmentof Therapeutic/Behavioral Plans.
- Assistsinthedeliveryofbehavior-analyticservicesimplementingbehaviorplansand collecting data.
- Assistsindividualsreceivingservicesinaccessingandparticipatingintheircommunity according to their interests desires behavioral plan and ISSP.
- Respectfullyprovidessupportaccordingtoapersonsbehavioralplanandindividualneeds.
- Encouragesandsupportsindependentdecision-makingandself-advocacy.
- Workscontinuouslytoimproveservicesandsupports.
- Workstoensurethatindividualsreceivingservicesarehealthysafeandvaluedbyothers.
- Respectsandlistenstoindividualsreceivingservices.
- Consults with appropriate professionals regarding casework records and supervision and assistance according to plans regulations and policies and individual needs.
- May assist with activities of daily living such as personal care and moving to or from a wheelchair.
- Provides ongoing communications with therapists supervisors team members family members and all other stakeholders regarding any issues concerns or problems.
- Assesses the living environment community locations activities and PPCH vehicles on a regular basis and reports concerns to supervisor.
- ComplieswithPPCHStateFederalandotherapplicableguidelinesandregulations.
- Completes all required training including annual refreshers according to established timelines.
- Is familiar with PPCH and other regulating agencies policies procedures and guidelines.
- Monitors completes and provides required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Promptly communicates and reports all behavioral incidents medical emergencies and/or significant incidents to appropriate agencies teams or individuals.
- Maintains confidentiality of individuals receiving services and PPCH operations.
- Attends team meetings.
- Pursues partnerships and teamwork.
- Gathers input from individuals receiving services and those who know and love them.
- Maintains respectful and professional relationships with individuals receiving services staff guardians family members and team members..

Qualifications:
Educationand Training:
- Bachelors degree in psychology social work or related field preferred.
- Requiredtrainingwillbeprovidedandmustbesuccessfullycompleted.
Experience:
- Experienceworkingwithpeoplewithdevelopmentaldisabilitieshighly preferred.
- Aminimumofoneyearusing Microsoft Officeorother softwarerequired.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Effectivewrittenandverbalcommunicationskills.
- Effectivelisteningskillsevenwhennon-traditionalcommunicationisused.
- Knowledgeoftrauma-informedtherapiespreferred.
- Ability to respectfully address significant issues of health and safety while supporting an individuals choices.
- AbilityandwillingnesstocompleterequiredtrainingsandlearnPPCHoperationsandsystems.
- Abilitytoindependently followinstructions.
- Abilitytoaccuratelymeasuredocumentandreportonobservabledata.
- Knowledgeofappliedbehavioranalysis(ABA)helpfulbutnotrequired.
- ValiddriverslicenseandabilitytomeetPPCHsdrivingrequirements.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Frequentliftingandcarryingofapproximately15lbs.
- This position involves physically assisting others including pushing/pulling individuals using wheelchairstransferringindividualswithmobilityneedsandassistancewithdailylivingskills.
- Liftingmovingandtransferringupto75pounds.
- conducted in a typical office environment.
- DrivingaPPCH15passengervanorvehicle.
- Driving throughout the Denver Metro area required on a regular basis.
