JOB PURPOSE
The Employment Counsellor is responsible for providing comprehensive employment counselling career guidance and work-readiness support to Indigenous learners and community clients accessing the Integrated Employment Service (IES) at Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP). The role supports the strategic objectives of the IES in aligning employment services with academic programs workforce readiness and community development initiatives.
The Employment Counsellor operates under the guidance of the Unit Manager Centre for Teaching & Learning and is expected to deliver culturally responsive evidence-based and client-focused services that reflect Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ganigohi:yo/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Employment Counselling & Career Services 40%
- Provide one-on-one and group employment counselling to clients including career planning resume development job search strategies interview preparation and employment retention support;
- Assess client skills interests and barriers to employment using evidence-based assessment tools;
- Collaborate with the Career Centre Coordinator to develop and deliver workshops job fairs and training sessions to enhance workforce readiness;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local regional and national labour market trends to inform client guidance.

Program Planning Delivery & Quality Assurance 20%
- Participate in the development and delivery of employment programs and initiatives aligned with Fedcap/IESS contractual requirements and SNP strategic priorities;
- Monitor and track client progress employment outcomes and program effectiveness through systematic data collection and reporting;
- Contribute to continuous program improvement through feedback outcome analysis and recommendations to the Unit Manager.
- Other related duties as;
Administration & Reporting 20%
- Maintain accurate client records case notes and program documentation in compliance with contractual and organizational standards;
- Prepare reports and submit required documentation to the Unit Manager to ensure Fedcap/IESS deliverables are met;
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals program updates and other materials as required by leadership.
- Other related duties as;
Stakeholder Engagement & Community Partnerships 15%
- Build and maintain relationships with employers industry networks community organizations and educational partners to enhance employment opportunities for clients;
- Represent SNP and the IES at community events networking sessions and relevant meetings;
- Support outreach activities to recruit participants and promote the services offered through IES.
- Other related duties as;
Professional Development & Cultural Leadership 5%
- Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge of career counselling practices labour market trends and Indigenous employment strategies.
- Demonstrate and promote culturally respectful and inclusive practices consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values in all client interactions and program delivery;
