| Summary of Position: Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content. Duties and Responsibilities - Attend and lead all required class sessions
- Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the universitys learning management system)
- Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner
Qualifications:According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement. |
Education - Masters or doctoral degree in a field relevant to the subject(s) to be taught
Experience - Relevant ministry and teaching experience is highly valued
Required Skills - Teaching: Adjunct faculty should demonstrate excellence in pedagogy classroom management designing assignments and classroom activities explaining complex ideas in a way students can understand and integrating Christian faith with the course material
- Adjuncts are also expected to grade assignments and post grades within a reasonable time frame
- Technology: Adjunct faculty are required to utilize the learning management system (Brightspace) and any in-classroom technology necessary for excellent instruction
- Ministerial: Adjunct faculty should demonstrate the ability to integrate their faith with their teaching and to connect with students relationally providing genuine care for the student as a person while also maintaining appropriate boundaries
