The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities to ensure daily weekly and monthly targets are met in line with quality standards customer requirements and operational efficiency goals. The role ensures optimal resource allocation machine utilization workflow stability and cross-departmental coordination. The Production Manager also drives continuous improvement cost control workforce supervision and compliance with quality safety and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Factory Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage production schedules in alignment with customer orders and capacity plans.
- Oversee production line activities to ensure compliance with manufacturing procedures quality standards and process guidelines.
- Lead daily production meetings and coordinate with QA Maintenance Warehouse and Planning teams.
- Monitor production performance indicators including output efficiency scrap rate downtime and labor utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective measures to optimize workflow.
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies machine safety requirements and regulatory standards.
- Supervise production supervisors shift leaders and line operators.
- Support investigations into non-conformities equipment breakdowns and process deviations.
- Communicate and escalate issues affecting production capacity or product quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing waste reduction and process standardization.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance.
- Monitor material availability and coordinate with Warehouse and Procurement.
- Prepare weekly and monthly production reports.
- Promote teamwork discipline and adherence to HR policies and operational code of conduct.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Industrial/Production Management or related field.
- Minimum 10 years relevant production experience including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale production operations.
- Proficiency in production planning tools Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
- Relevant Certifications (preferred):Nigerian: COREN (for engineers if applicable) ISPON safety certification NIMechE or related membership. International (added advantage): Lean/Kaizen certifications Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt) NEBOSH/IOSH safety management certifications
- Strong leadership planning problem-solving and communication skills.
- Analytical data-driven and able to manage fast-paced diverse teams.
