Estimator Civil Infrastructure Projects
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for civil infrastructure projects including earthworks roadworks sewer/watermain utilities and site servicing.
Review drawings specifications addenda and tender documents to determine scope required materials labour and equipment.
Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost breakdowns for all project components.
Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive and compliant pricing.
Identify project risks constructability challenges and value-engineering opportunities.
Collaborate with Project Managers and technical teams during bid preparation to clarify scope methodologies and logistics.
Maintain estimating databases cost histories and benchmarking information.
Participate in tender reviews bid closings and post-tender negotiations when required.
Prepare proposal submissions including schedules clarifications and supporting documentation.
Assist with handoff meetings to ensure the project team fully understands the estimate and assumptions.
Qualifications
510 years of estimating experience in civil infrastructure construction.
Proven ability to estimate projects involving roads earthworks utilities sewer/watermain and municipal infrastructure.
Strong understanding of civil construction methods productivity rates and industry standards.
Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g. HCSS HeavyBid Bid2Win Bluebeam or similar).
Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings specifications geotechnical reports and tender documents.
Strong numerical accuracy analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and ability to coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams.
Familiarity with municipal regional and provincial tendering processes.
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology Construction Management or a related field considered an asset.
