Position Summary:
This role focuses on safely and efficiently moving positioning and backing up trailers loaded with chemicals within a yard and/or terminal. The driver will maneuver semi-trucks in tight spaces organize trailers for loading and unloading and ensure compliance with all safety and hazardous material handling regulations. Precision spatial awareness and strong maneuvering skills are essential!
Location: 7405 Page Ave St. Louis MO
Hours: 5am - 2pm Overtime as needed (Saturdays 5am - 1:30pm)
Pay: $26.64hr Overtime (time & a half) annual bonus
Position Type: Direct Hire/Full Time
What Youll Do:
Operate standard highway and industrial trucks on company property public streets and/or highways.
Physically loading and unloading materials on company-operated trucks. Responsibilities include proper material handling either on company customer or supplier property.
Daily care of equipment in charge such as cleaning the equipment checking oil water and battery and entering this information onto log sheets. Responsible for adding these items as needed.
Must exercise caution to avoid damaging material or property while operating equipment and must always exercise caution for the safety of other employees and the general public.
Maintain written and/or electronic records as required by management (i.e. cGMP and ISO procedures).
Keep equipment and surrounding work area clean at all times.
Moving and loading hazardous waste as directed by the supervisor.
Experience Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- High School Diploma GED or equivalent.
- Current/valid Missouri CDL license.
- Ability to read scales.
- Manual dexterity and good peripheral vision.
- Wear personal protective equipment as needed.
- Ability to open/close trailer doors as business needs.
- Ability to oeprate a two-way radio to communicate and prioitize tasks.
Preferred:
- Class A CDL license.
- Ability to drive minimum of 5 miles on roads to deliver product.
- 3 years of previous truck driving and/or yard driving experience.
- Previous work experience backing up an manuevering large trucks in small lots and/or areas with limited space/restrictions.
- 2 years of forklift experience
- Stand up sit down electric propane etc.
- Experience performing basic truck maintenance and maintenence checks.
- Expereince using two-way radio or other technology to communicate.
- Ability to work with and previous expereince working with a sense of urgency to prioitize important tasks.
- Previous experience partnering with other drivers/3PL workers.
Other:
- May be expected to move carry and lift approximately 60 pounds.
- May be expected to climb heights of approximately 10 feet and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions safety warning labels and machine instruction manuals.
- Basic math writing and data entry skills.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Ability necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either written or electronic formats.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
