JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Assistant Director manages the finance business budget and personnel activities of the Office of Clinical Research departments (the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and the Clinical Research Center-MUH (CRC)) the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other Research Regulatory Support areas associated with research (clinical or otherwise) performed by UT-affiliated faculty and the Office of Research Safety Affairs (RSA).
ResponsibilitiesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day business activities as well as other projects associated with clinical research regulatory support and safety affairs. Responsible for departmental budgets accounts payable purchasing inventory control financial reporting and reconciliation of ledgers.
- Reviews financial reports to analyze forecast develop and submit annual probable and fiscal year budgets to VCR Finance and Admins Director.
- Verifies procurement card report and receipts for purchases and approvals.
- Manages personnel records and assists departmental Directors with processing new hires salary information pay funding changes position changes and termination documents processing to HR.
- Collaborates with the Methodist Healthcare Foundation and other entities to develop a process for the receipt of detailed sponsored payment information to assist the research coordinator with reconciliation and confirmation of payment for all clinical activities performed.
- Manages inventory verifies inventory report and reviews entries for accuracy; processes and approves annual inventory reports.
- Assists Directors in creating new positions and postings and reviews and approves transactions.
- Implements the final approved budget of each clinical trial with clinical trial agreements.
- Collaborate with the Office of Clinical Research staff to review the income generated for CTU CRC and Principal Investigator for all trials and create UT subcontracts.
- Extracts and analyze data from DASH and ILab regarding billing for services and invoices to and payments from sponsors/customers.
- Assists the Office of Research Director of Finance & Administration with special projects reports and other duties as needed.
- Attends classes and keeps apprised of all university updates to perform DASH functions and assist/train employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:Bachelors degree in finance Accounting Management or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience in finance administration and supervision.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to develop business reports and plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn DASH.
- Computer knowledge skills and experience with a high level of proficiency in various word processing spreadsheet and database management software programs.
- Excellent organization skills self-starter with the ability to exhibit leadership qualities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines under pressure.
WORK SCHEDULE:This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
