We are looking for someone who can manage projects communicate clearly and work well with different departments and partner agencies. You should be organized comfortable coordinating multiple tasks at once and able to build good working relationships. Experience in emergency management public safety or training coordination is helpful but we welcome applicants who have gained relevant skills through work volunteer service or other community involvement.
The ideal candidate enjoys helping people develop their skills coordinating logistics and contributing to the communitys overall preparedness. Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS) or emergency planning is useful but on-the-job training will be available.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position normally works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The primary work location is City Hall with regular work taking place in the Emergency Programs Office. The work environment is dynamic and schedules may shift at times to support training events exercises meetings with partner agencies or emergency operations. During major incidents or planned exercises evening or weekend hours may be required. Limited remote work may be available after successful completion of the probationary period and depending on operational needs.
In this role you will coordinate the City and Borough of Juneaus (CBJ) emergency management training and exercise program. You will maintain training plans and calendars track task books and required certifications and help ensure CBJ staff and partner agencies are prepared to respond during emergencies. Much of your work involves coordinating with Capital City Fire/Rescue (CCFR) the Juneau Police Department (JPD) and other departments to understand their training needs and align schedules and resources.
You will design and coordinate emergency management exercises ranging from small tabletop discussions to larger multi-agency events. You will also document lessons learned and help incorporate improvements into CBJs response plans. The position supports planning work such as the Emergency Operations Plan Continuity of Operations Plans and hazard-related planning efforts.
During major incidents you will support the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and may fill an ICS role depending on your training and the needs of the event.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in emergency management emergency response planning training coordination or related public safety work. Experience should include assisting in the development or delivery of training or exercises.

Substitution:
Any combination of education work experience training volunteer service or military service that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position that equals four (4) years.
Other:
Current Drivers License at time of appointment and forcontinued employment.Candidate must be willing to work non-standard hours and be on-call to respond to emergencies.
Certifications:
The incumbent must obtain certificates in the following National Incident Management System Independent Study courses within twelve months:
IS-100 (Introduction to Incident Command System)
IS-200 (Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents)
IS-700 (National Incident Management System - An Introduction)
IS-800 (National Response Plan - An Introduction)
NIMS IS-300 (Intermediate Incident Command System)
IS-400 (Advanced Incident Command System
IS-546 (Continuity of Operations (COOP) Awareness)
IS-547 (Introduction to Continuity of Operations)
Preferred:
Experience supporting multi-agency training or experiences. ICS Instructor Certification or HSEEP familiarity
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position may require occasional travel participation in emergency operations and the ability to work under pressure during incidents.
