We are currently looking to recruit a Fitter to constructmaintainand repair the electrical distribution network. This is an important role within the district where youll provide key skills and knowledge to ready the network for an electric future and to help meet the challenge of Net Zero across more than 100000km of network and 30000 substations benefiting more than 3.5m homes and businesses across Scotland England and Wales.
Whatyoullbe doing
Day to dayyoullensure that all site works are carried out safelyin accordance withcompany policy and safety rules and in an efficient manner. This may include acting as the nominated person in charge of safety for the duration of works attended.
The work of a Fitter typically consists of maintenance and repair of circuit breakers batteries and transformers within a substation or workshop environment.
Considerableamount of work takes place draining and replenishing oils some with residual carbon deposits. The bulk of the oil is removed via apumpit is only the final layer that requires
direct contact with the oil.
Operativesare required tofollow assigned procedures. Work or work tasks can involve working at height which may involve working on a structure or standing on a ladder with permanent attachment fall arrest attached and although consideration should be given to collective measures e.g. guard rails over personal protection measures e.g. safety harnesses / fall arrest employees have the authority and responsibility to implement theappropriate methodtaking into account the activity to be undertaken thelimitations of the work equipment being considered the environment the ground (terrain) and weather conditions at the time of work.
You will be able to plan and carry out work in a safe manner always adhering to health and safety procedures with and ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team with a confident and enthusiastic attitude.
We will expect a proven attention to detail and able todemonstrategood oral and written communication skills whilst delivering outstanding customer service and essential services 24/7/365 that make a difference to local people and communities.
Whatyoullbring
We will look to you to have demonstratable experience and understanding of the network Experience working within a utilities business is preferable but not essential.
You should also have sound knowledge of health safety and environmental legislation and excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers as an on-site representative of the company.
Qualifications
City and guilds or NVQ equivalent and / or equivalent experience (minimum)
MinimumRequirements
Employed currently or historically as an electrical Fitter at one or more of LV HV EHV (minimum)
Driving licence (minimum)
