Position Overview
The Development Database Specialist is a valuable member of the Development Team with primary responsibility for gift processing formal thank you acknowledgements and database clean-up. The Development Database Specialist also takes the lead on all administrative tasks for the Development Department including filing mail and scanning/printing. The position reports to the Development Manager.
The Development Database Specialist is the face of fundraising financial transactions with donors and must have excellent customer service skills and passion for the mission. This is a part-time non-exempt position with 8-16 hours expected per week. This is a hybrid position requiring at least one day per week (flexible) onsite at our offices in Jamaica Plain.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Essential Functions & Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage data entry especially gift entry from all sources (checks online Fidelity Charitable etc.) update donor information and coordinate timely acknowledgments
- Ensure that all gift contact and donor background data is accurately and promptly entered into the database
- Maintain and improve the overall integrity of the database update records merge duplicates enter new information provided by donors prospects or staff
- Coordinate agency in-kind gift tracking and acknowledgements
- Respond to donor inquiries while conveying a professional manner along with a willingness to help; provide reliable accurate and timely responses to questions from internal and external stakeholders
- Additional administrative duties as assigned by the Development Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year of work or relevant experience including proficiency with database entry or nonprofit experience or fundraising environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
- Attention to detail and accuracy is required
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent oral communication interpersonal and writing skills
- Commitment to confidentiality in all matters related to Italian Home for Children business development and fundraising practices
- Ability to function effectively in a small team environment
- Demonstrate sensitivity and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and different communication styles in a politically and culturally diverse environment

The hourly wage range for this role is $25-30 USD per hour. This number does not reflect additional compensation-related benefits such as PTO medical and life insurance EAP and the Italian Home for Children 403(b) retirement plan.
