About this Job

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Maintenance Repairer 2. The Maintenance Repairer 2 is located within the Facility Services Department andperforms general maintenance functions to campus buildings facilities and equipment. This is a full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction construction technology or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management construction technology or engineering or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Makes general repairs to buildings interiors exteriors furniture fixtures air conditioning/heating systems and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing carpentry and electrical.
Maintains and makes general repairs to a variety of motorized equipment including tune-ups replacement and adjustment of won or damaged parts (carburetors generators alternators staters pumps brake linings/pads etc.) and limited disassembly of major components (engines transmissions final drives etc.) to determine the extent of damage and repairs necessary.
Makes minor repairs to navigational locks such as replacing hydraulic hoses.
Makes limited repairs to appliances replaces parts and makes adjustments etc.
Starts operates and checks for safety and maintenance of wide variety of handheld equipment motorized vehicles tractors combines hay balers planters etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status.
