Job Description

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates accountability for functional business and broad company objectives in the field of Generator & Electrical Systems. Integrates and develops generator & rotor components and processes that meet business needs across the organization. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within generator capacity expansion powertrain & generator interactions response to grid functionality and double end drive machine design including collectors.

  • Identify develop evaluate and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long range through maintenance and additions to generator design practice and design data for entirety of product line
  • Assist team with technical rigor to develop safe high-quality products while being actively engaged during design process with team leadership participation and approval for design changes updates activities and action tracking
  • Provide technical consultation and leadership on Root Cause Analysis including lead engineer action item owner and approver throughout the business where expertise is needed
  • Lead and provide the key technical direction to projects with critical business impact including Powertrain ownership for Generator and Electrical Systems (GES) generator rotor frame and collector components
  • Lead & drive synchronous condenser applications and H84/H78 capacity improvement including design and test oversight
  • Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state-of-the-art generator and electrical systems and connected equipment to better anticipate apply adapt product introduction quality performance and cost improvements to meet business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs
  • Exercise and demonstrate Curiosity by striving for improved products & processes to support GE Vernova customers
  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing product supplier and field issues.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports records and letters
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company. Lead and encourage team members to protect IP and their good ideas
  • Be a Helpful resource to all levels of engineering team and encourage dialogue between all groups


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics or related field
  • Deep understanding of Generator & Systems interactions impacts and importance within the mechanical/electrical constraints of a power train
  • At least 8 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong oral and written communication strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Capability to complete review and direct Ansys analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to document plan and manage programs that further the knowledge understanding and capability of the business
  • Service oriented mindset and temperament to serve a varied customer base and set an example for teams to follow
  • Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art for journal bearings and the ability to teach and set standard practices within bearing design problem solving and power train impacts

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $131700.00 and $219300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.
