Location/Division Specific Information:
At our Hillsboro location we produce exceptional electron microscopes employed by scientists and engineers to advance innovation across the globe. This role is responsible for crafting high-grade parts featured in the worlds leading devices used by Nobel Prize recipients and the teams that visualized the COVID-19 virus!
How Will You Make an Impact:
At the Hillsboro campus Thermo Fisher Scientific advances global technology to support our customers in making the world healthier cleaner and safer.
A Day in the Life:
- Conduct assembly alignments and final configurations of components.
- Conduct assembly work applying prescribed methods using a variety of hand tools fixtures and test equipment.
- Collect test data use databases and other office programs to detail the manufacturing process.
- Participate in resolving production challenges and making process decisions.
- Assist in the selection and/or set-up of specialized equipment.
- Perform a wide variety of troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
- Perform equipment set-up calibration and preventative maintenance.
- Follow audit and safety guidelines.
- Participate in continuous process improvement.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
- 1 year of manufacturing or mechanical assembly experience required.
- Background in precision mechanical assembly and low-volume sophisticated manufacturing processes required.
- Experience in lean manufacturing 6S and continuous improvement a plus.
- Previous assembly experience in a Clean Room environment is a plus.
- Experience with Windows-based and MS Office programs (Word Excel Division-Specific Outlook and Access).
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability in efficiently working in a team of 8-10 colleagues.
- Ability to analyze and address problems independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to assist with projects conduct training and work effectively within collaborative groups.
- Self-motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills successful in partnering with colleagues of differing cultural language and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to work in appropriate PPE.
