The challenging but rewarding career of a Life Skills Education Assistant (also known asa Para-Professional) helps students with disabilities under the direction of a Certified Teacher. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to observe a class and ask questions prior to formal offer.
Qualifications:
- Work under the direction of a certified teacher and assist them in successfully conducting lessons setting up equipment and activities.
- Ability to independently monitor and supervise special needs students in the classroom between classes and during lunch in small groups or one-on-one.
- Flexibility and initiative to encourage and nurture students.
- Patience and the ability to enforce good behavior and provide discipline with dignity.
- The physical ability to regularly stand walk or sit on the floor while working with students in different settings.
- The physical ability to regularly move lift or restrain students.
- Thisposition could include assisting students with toileting routines and needs.
- Helping at meal times to feed students with a variety of abilities. This may include assisting with tube feeding.
- Provide medical support or intervention.
- Ability to meet standards of the Life Skills Educational Assistant (Para-Professional).
Requirements:
