QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Possession of an appropriate valid Texas Drivers License
- High School Diploma or certified GED required. Bachelors degree preferred.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of increasingly responsible broad-based services as a Texas Peace Officer with 3 years of management/administration experience at the rank of Lieutenant or higher.
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensed peace officer.
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Master Peace Officer Certification
- Knowledge of overall operations of a police department
- Knowledge of criminal investigations internal affairs investigations and criminal law
- FBI National Academy Graduate Leadership Command College or equivalent preferred.
- Experience is preferred in School Based Law Enforcement.

$106939 (PA-10)
Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Chief of Police in directing supervising and evaluating departmental operations
- Plan organize and support direction of the police department. Regularly review the effectiveness of the police department practices
- Provide leadership to division lieutenants supervisors and staff.
- Oversee daily activities of assigned divisions (e.g. Patrol Investigations Campus Support Services Administration).
- Ensure enforcement of all laws including municipal ordinances county ordinances and state laws within board policy and jurisdiction of district.
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals objectives policies and procedures for the department
- Reviews and directs the departments fiscal equipment and human resources activities and services; develops reviews and manages staff and employee recruitment development and training
- Develop and present clear written and oral communications and reports
- Coordinates law enforcement activities with other law enforcement agencies and first responders
- Provides staff assistance to assigned supervisory staff; provide various program and activity reports; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence; makes recommendations for the addition of new programs
- Assumes command of the police department in the absence of the Chief
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Evaluate performance of assigned staff
- Monitors budgetary expenses and assists in preparation of the department budget
- Attend various meetings and seminars as required
- Other duties as assigned

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district-wide travel and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
