Responsibilities
Perform electroencephalogram on neonate pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients of including EEG to assist in the diagnosis of various brain disorders with direct supervision.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consults with physicians and checks patients history.
- Explains procedure to patient and places electrodes in appropriate cranial areas using the International 10-20 system.
- Performs EEG in accordance with standard operating procedures and in accordance with ACNS guidelines.
- Provide detailed observations while recording the EEG.
- Reports need for repairs for the EEG equipment to immediate supervisor.
- Enter charges into computer system to ensure proper billing of patients.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions unsafe conditions or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to manager.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Neurodiagnostics program and must provide letter confirming nine months clinical experience performing EEG studies.
Or
- Completion of a Neurodiagnostics program.
OR
- One year supervised on-the-job training experience performing EEG studies in a clinical setting and must provide letter confirming the experience.
- BLS Certified
PREFERRED
- Registered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET)
- Completion of a certified EEG program and one year performing EEG studies.
