Job Summary

Summary

Dual Role to perform all Radiologic and CT examinations CT biopsys 3D exams and reformations etc. and assist the Radiologist during these procedures. A vast knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy catheters and abnormal pathology is essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Graduate of approved Radiologic Technology School with current ARRT registry and possessing a current New York State license of Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • 2 or more years experience as CT Technologist is preferred.
  • Board Certified in CT is preferred CT certification must be obtained 2 years from accepting this position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Must be able to problem solve and troubleshoot issues independently or go the proper channels to follow through so task is complete.
  • Must be able to and willing to work independently in all areas of the diagnostic radiology department particularly in the operating room with portable x-ray machinery and with c-arm equipment.
  • Must be willing to perform medical assistant duties as necessary depending on location of employment.
  • Must be competent and willing to participate in all OR procedures and capable of doing them independently.
  • Must be capable of operating all radiographic rooms and all equipment including the fluoroscopy portables c-arms and diagnostic radiographic equipment.
  • Utilize shielding as necessary for patient and staff.
  • Ability to assess Lab Values that pertain to exam
  • Operates specialized imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians.
  • Performs CT scan studies and Special Procedures of anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established standards and procedures.
  • Operate all radiographic imaging equipment associated with Special Procedures Computed Tomography including but not limited to monitors injectors scanners.
  • Prepare IV Contrast Power injectors.
  • Administers Contrast Media as required
  • Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy positioning and imaging techniques.
  • IV certification
  • Properly and accurately screen patients for CT
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Track scan verify studies and complete all required paperwork associated with such.
  • Monitor PACS for Problem Studies and Call Reports as measure of default when dedicated person unable.
  • Document on requisition appropriate needed information
  • Prep patient for diagnostic imaging exam.
  • Read doctors notes as to why exam is being performed.
  • Take Patient histories.
  • Explain procedure to patient.
  • Correct Positioning of patients.
  • Prepare solutions for patients to drink. Barium contrast agents.
  • Utilize shielding as necessary for patient and staff.
  • Rotate shift and campus as departmental needs require.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Should be able to push/pull lift/move 35 lb. be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard writing and filing for extended periods of time must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

Salary Range: $36.07-$54.10/hour Pay is based on experience skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
