We are looking for a compassionate reliable and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm inclusive and supportive Primary School in Islington. This long-term role involves providing one-to-one support for a pupil with additional learning needs who may at times display challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will be patient understanding and committed to helping young learners grow academically socially and emotionally. If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special educational needs we would love to hear from you. This role is ideal for someone who truly wants to have a positive daily impact on a childs school experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with special educational needs ensuring they feel engaged safe and supported throughout the school day.
- Build strong positive relationships that encourage confidence independence and progress.
- Assist the class teacher with daily activities and contribute to maintaining a calm inclusive classroom environment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of a wide range of needs from mild to more complex.
- Follow EHCP targets and work closely with the SENCO to deliver consistent tailored support.
- Work flexibly across EYFS to KS2 as required.
- Previous experience supporting SEND pupils or working within SEND settings (school-based or similar environments).
- A calm patient and empathetic approach with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- The right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional references.
